Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

  • Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our Mountain Hike Nepal representative will receive you and assist with your hotel transfer.
  • Short briefing about the Kailash Yatra.
  • Rest and prepare for the upcoming journey.
    Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Submit Passport for Visa Processing & Kathmandu Sightseeing

  • Submit your passport and required documents for Tibet Visa processing.
  • Sightseeing Tour:
    • Pashupatinath Temple: Sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
    • Guhyeshwari Temple: Shaktipeeth temple near Pashupatinath.
    • Budhanilkantha: Reclining Vishnu statue on a water pond.
      Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Visa Processing Continues & Full-Day Kathmandu Sightseeing

  • While the visa processing is ongoing, enjoy a cultural tour of Kathmandu:

  • Continue the drive to Kerung Town (2,700m).
    Overnight in Kerung.

Day 06: Rest & Acclimatization in Kerung

  • Full day to rest and adjust to high altitude.
  • Light walks and short hikes around Kerung for acclimatization.

Day 07: Drive to Saga – 230 km / 6 hrs

  • Drive through the Tibetan landscape along rivers and valleys to Saga (4,450m).
  • Enjoy the view of snow-capped mountains and Tibetan settlements.

Day 08: Drive to Lake Mansarovar – 400 km / 9 hrs

  • Scenic drive towards the holy Lake Mansarovar (4,590m).
  • View Mount Kailash in the distance.
  • Spend time near the lake, offering prayers and enjoying the spiritual ambiance.
    Overnight by Lake Mansarovar.

Day 09: Explore Lake Mansarovar & Drive to Darchen – 40 km

  • Morning puja, rituals, and holy dip at Lake Mansarovar.
  • Visit Chiu Gompa Monastery (optional hike for panoramic lake views).
  • Short drive to Darchen (4,575m), the base for Kailash Parikrama.
    Overnight in Darchen.

Day 10: Kailash Parikrama Begins – Trek to Derapuk (North Face) – 20 km

  • Drive to Yamadwar (Tarboche) – Starting point of Parikrama.
  • Trek to Derapuk Monastery (4,900m).
  • Stunning close-up view of Mount Kailash North Face.
    Overnight in Derapuk.

Day 11: Second Day of Kailash Parikrama – Trek to Zuthulpuk via Dolma La Pass – 21 km

  • Toughest day with a trek over Dolma La Pass (5,645m).

  • Descend towards Zuthulpuk (4,790m), known for Milarepa’s Cave.
    Overnight in Zuthulpuk.

Day 12: End of Kailash Parikrama – Return to Darchen & Drive to Saga

Day 13: Drive to Kerung

  • Drive back through the stunning Tibetan landscape towards Kerung.

  • Drive back to Kathmandu (1,400m).

  • When is the best time to visit Mount Kailash in 2025?

    • The best time for the Mount Kailash Yatra is from May to September when the weather is stable, and the routes are open for pilgrims.

  • Do I need a visa and special permit for the Kailash Yatra?

    • Yes, you need both a Tibet/China Visa and a Tibet Travel Permit, which will be arranged by Mountain Hike Nepal as part of your package.

  • What is the difficulty level of the Kailash Parikrama/Kora?

    • The Kora is considered moderate to challenging due to high altitude (up to 5,600m at Dolma La Pass). Proper acclimatization and physical fitness are necessary.

  • What kind of accommodation is provided during the tour?

    • In Kathmandu, you will stay in comfortable hotels.
    • In Tibet, accommodations are in basic guesthouses or lodges with simple facilities due to remote locations.

  • What is included in the cost of the Kailash Yatra package?

    • Yes, travel insurance is mandatory. It should cover emergency evacuation, medical expenses, and high-altitude trekking.

  • What is the altitude sickness risk during the Kailash Yatra?

    • Yes, altitude sickness is a concern as you will be traveling above 4,500m. We ensure gradual acclimatization, experienced guides, and oxygen support during the trek.

  • What kind of food is provided during the tour?

    • During the Tibet portion, we provide pure vegetarian Indian/Nepali meals (full board). In Kathmandu, meals are not included except for welcome/farewell dinners.

  • Can I hire a porter or yak to carry my luggage during the Parikrama?

    • Yes, yaks and yakmen will be provided during the Kora to carry your main bag, so you only need to carry a small day pack.

BOOKING WITH US

  • For booking Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan Tours, You should send with a photocopy of your passport and a 20% deposit of the trip’s overall expense after booking the tours.   The 20% deposit sum is non-refundable once you’ve made the travel down payment. The deposit would be treated as a cancelation charge if you cancel your travel any day after booking with us. The outstanding balance can be paid on arriving in Kathmandu before you start your trek / tour.

Note: For Bhutan and Tibet tours, if you intend to travel directly to those countries, you will pay the balance sum 20 days before your departure date. We reserve the right to cancel your trip if you cannot pay within our agreed period.

  • You get the receipt indicating your final booking confirmation once you make advance payment and provide photocopies of your passports.
  • We accept varying modes of payments to provide you convenience related to money transfer. These include payments via credit cards, money grams, Western Union and bank transfer. However, you have to pay the service charge of the bank while you deposit the down payment.

LAST-MINUTE RESERVATION

We also consider last-minute reservations. You can book a trip to Nepal 7 days before departure. However, last-minute bookings may not be eligible for Bhutan or Tibet.

TO POSTPONED NEPAL TRIP

A written letter will be submitted to us, for whatever cause, you cannot travel on the assigned days.

If the Nepal tour is postponed, a minimum of US$ 100.00 is compensated as a cancelation fee, and hence the remaining balance is allocated for the postponed trip.

RISK AND LIABILITIES

You have to cancel your confirmed trek/tour booking with our Mountain Hike Nepal team in writing minimum 2 weeks before your scheduled trip. You may provide this in writing document or email.

However, even though you may cancel your trip, your down payment amount i.e. 20% of the total price is non-refundable.

But if you have paid more than just the deposit, we would then 20% deduction from the sum and the remainder will be refunded from the initial payment system.

And this policy is valid right after registering your reservation with us. If you intend to cancel your travel within 30 days or fewer than 30 days within your departure date, 20 % deposit is non-refundable.

TRIP CANCELLATION POLICY FOR TIBET AND BHUTAN

The Total deposit you made for every Bhutan and Tibet tour would be called cancelation    charge. We cannot postpone any trip to Bhutan and Tibet after booked for particular dates.

INCOMPLETE TRIP

We are not responsible for any refunds for any incomplete trip, trek or expedition, whatever the reasons from customer’s side.

UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES

 If your tour is canceled due to unexpected events such as natural disasters, battle or adverse climatic conditions, we will arrange another tour. And that even if your trip isn’t your preference, your money won’t go in waste.

CHANGING IN PRICE

We reserve our right to change prices under various situations. While our actions must be appropriate, just like in situations such as dramatic exchange rate fluctuations, inflation or government acts, we are not liable to answer for our actions.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

To attend all of our trips, all our customers should have a full travel insurance policy. Insurance must cover all medical costs, personal injuries, emergency evacuations, travel cancellations, loss of gears and natural calamity, luggage theft or injury and personal belongings.

FLIGHT DELAYS AND CANCELLATION

Flight delays and cancellations are likely to occur frequently in remote areas, especially in the Everest region, jomsom, Dolpo, Simikot and Jumla. Therefore, in case of delays, it is best to bring some extra money to purchase food and lodging. Mountain Hike Nepal won’t be responsible for any extra expenses. Please, prepare accordingly.

ILLEGAL ACT BY CLIENTS

If you perform any illegal act during your trip and you are forced to leave Nepal, Mountain Hike Nepal is not responsible for any refunds.
