Kopan Monastery to Sundarijal day hike is the popular tour package for people who want to hike around Kathmandu Valley. Kopan Monastery is dedicated to those who like to do yoga, meditation, and retreat. Sundarijal (15km northeast of Kathmandu) is an enticing destination for all visitors as we cross the Bagmati River (Hindus’ holy river). Another enticing thing about Sundarijal is a man-made waterfall that looks fantastic in the forest center. You’ll also see waterfalls during the monsoon season. Sundarijal displays the action sports lover’s charm. It is also depicted as one of Langtang-Gosaikunda trek door.

From here, you can admire the wider valley view (more than 180-degree view). At the tiny tea shops, you’ll love taking pictures and even sharing local tea taste. A tiny but beautiful Tamang village is visible here. Now we continue our walk enjoying the trail through the lush green forest where we will meet the many species of birds, goats, butterflies, and insects. After 2 hours and 30 minutes walking, we reach Mulkharka for lunch. Mulkharka is like a lunch station where hikers and trekkers stop for lunch. We walk for about 30 minutes after lunch and reach Sundarijal, passing Bagmati River. You may also see waterfalls. You will take photos; admire greenery, quiet scenery and flora and fauna plants. On your ride, you’ll hear the Chirbir sound of birds and butterflies, wind and leaves whispering, and the soothing sound of waterfalls and rivers. On the way, we now reach Tarebhir, the entrance point of Shivapuri Nagarjuna National Park (the youngest national park near Kathmandu Valley).
