The Government of Nepal has announced an issue for the flight operation to Lukla. Most of the flights to Lukla will commence from Ramechhap until further notice to avoid the heavy traffic congestion in Kathmandu airport. The airport in Ramechhap is located 130km from Kathmandu (approximately 3-4 hours drive).
We start the Dhampus Sarangkot hike with a short and picturesque drive from the lakeside town of Pokhara through the beautiful scenery of Phedi. Then we continue our hiking journey as we climb up through the forests and the ridges of the village of Dhampus, with an enchanting view of the mountains and the surrounding valleys.
Upon experiencing the sunrise views of the Himalayas, we have a hearty breakfast and then take a leisurely walk through the forest and lush paddy fields to the whitewater of the Seti River. Then the path ascends through the thicker jungle. We’re making our way up to the top heaven of the village of Sarangkot.
This overlook provides pictures of the beautiful Pokhara valley with a shimmering lake below us and the snowy peaks to the north. Nearby is the takeoff place for paragliding pilots and the zip line, too, which goes back to the Seti River. If the weather cooperates, we’ll witness a mesmerizing sunset from Sarangkot before we go back to a comfortable meal and drink at our cozy lodge.
Then we have another great view of the sunrise on the mountains the next morning. The views of Machapuchhre Range and Annapurna Range and more are particularly memorable. After breakfast, we’ll take a nice walk away from the ridgeline and down the green hillside and the occasional fields and villages to meet the lakeside town of Pokhara.

Day 01: Drive to Phedi and Hike to Dhampus, 3 hours of Walk
Our trip starts with a nice drive to Phedi, which takes about 30 minutes from Pokhara. From there, we ascend through the beautiful forest and landscape for the next 3 hours and hit the top of the hill called Dhampus. We can see a wide range of the Himalayas; the view is very near and stunning. The mountains that we see from Dhampus include the Annapurna ranges, the Fishtail, the Dhaulagiri, the Hiunchuli, the Lamjung Himal and other mountains. Dhampus is pleasant, peaceful and wonderful. It’s an ideal location to go back to the beautiful nature of a town for several months. We love the spectacular sunsets on the Himalayas in the evening and the sunrise in the morning, the beauty we’re going to cherish for a long time. We’re going to spend the night at Dhampus in a cottage. The lodge offers good standard and local food and clean rooms.
Day 02: Trek to Sarangkot thru Naudanda, 6 hours of Walk
We’ll get to Naundanda from Dhampus by walking across the village. Sarangkot is nearby from Naundanda. The village of Sarangkot provides a magnificent view of the Himalayas, comprising of mighty peaks such as Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri and Lamjung Himal. Sarangkot Tower hiking astound us as we see the sunrise over the White Mountains of the Whole Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges, Fishtail (Machhapuchhre). Sarangkot is the best place for sunrise and paragliding at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level. At a glance, the stunning view of Pokhara Valley amazes us.
The sheer variety of inhabitants, their history, language and customs of Nepal excites us. It is one of the finest places to visit with its long history, interesting art and distinctive and diverse architecture. The Trail gives a leading view of the mountains with beautiful villages with diverse cultures and traditions of Nepalese people settled in the western part of Nepal at an altitude of about 1700 m. Sarangkot is very prominent with the mountain surroundings. Walking around Pokhara, Sarangkot is one of the best trekking with family and friends who have a magnificent view of the snow-capped mountains and appreciate the green hills. We’re going to stay overnight at the one of the Sarangkot Lodges.
