Bungmati and Khokana Village Day Tour
Bungmati is situated inside the Kathmandu Valley district of Lalitpur, a small village spanning back to the 6th century. The area has maintained its heritage as its essential part of life. It’s one of the more conservative valley villages, less affected by development. Bungmati is a few kilometers from Kathmandu City and has preserved its age-old culture and traditions. Assumed to be Rato Mahhendranath’s birthplace, there’s a big shikhara-styled temple committed to this deity.
Another temple around Bungmati is the Temple of Karya Binayak, another significant Hindu shrine in Nepal. The community of Khokana is situated 10 km south of Kathmandu City, and this town has also retained its own history and culture. It’s another Newar settlement town with two key aspects; their special mustard oil processing method, and another, the local three-story temple. Locals here are mostly dependent on farming, and most of their everyday activities are spent on big green agricultural lands.
