Fire Destroys Janakpur Big Mart, Causing Millions in Losses
A fire that erupted late Saturday night at the Janakpur-based Big Mart has resulted in losses worth millions of rupees. The fire was brought under control on Sunday morning, according to the District Police Office Dhanusha.
The fire at the Mart located in Ramananda Chowk of Janakpur Sub metropolis was extinguished with the help of firefighters from various local governments, police, and the locals.
Mart proprietor Ram Babu Ray said the losses are estimated to exceed over Rs 100 million. The store was totally destroyed by the fire. “My family and I were on the second floor of the Mart when we noticed the fire, and we managed to escape to safety,” he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
