American Tourist Dies in Trekking Accident in Nepal

An American tourist died on Wednesday after falling off a cliff while trekking in Manang, a mountainous district in Nepal. The victim, 69-year-old Charles Keith Davis, was on his way to Chame from Lamjung with his wife, guide, and porter.

According to DSP Phanindra Ranabhat, Davis fell off a cliff as he was trying to remove a rock from the road in Khotrodanda of Naso Rural Municipality. He fell some 100 meters down onto the Marsyangdi river bank.

A police team mobilized from the District Police Office, Chame, rushed him to the District Hospital after rescuing him, but he died during treatment.

The US embassy in Nepal is working with the local authorities to investigate the accident and provide assistance to Davis’s family.
